Martin Demichelis says that City know what they have to do to progress into the Capital One Cup semi-final.
City entertain Hull at the Etihad Stadium and the Argentine centre back is planning to use last year’s early exit as motivation this time around.
“We have the experience in the last couple of seasons where we have been knocked out here in cup games,” said Demichelis.
“One of my best memories at City is the Capital One Cup final at Wembley. Last year we experienced the opposite to be knocked out at home.
“We have the memory of that and now we want to prepare to win the game against Hull and go through to the semi-final.”
The centre back was also full of praise for his fellow countryman Willy Caballero after he stepped into the fold following Joe Hart’s injury.
“Today (Saturday) I think he had a really good game, he made some good saves when the game was still open,” Martin declared.
“It’s not easy to play once every three months and you lose momentum so it’s a difficult position. He played amazing and made some important saves for the team.”
Manager Manuel Pellegrini is also keen for his team to continue their return to winning ways against the Tigers, adding: “It is important to be focused now and to be focusing game by game. Maybe teams that are out of some competitions or the Capital One Cup might find it easier to play the Premier League but it is my way of thinking that we always want to continue in all the competitions.
“We will see with the medical staff which players are available and who are not. Maybe we will make some changes, but not so many as Zabaleta, Kompany, Mangala and Nasri are all out for definite.”
